High Plains Camping is located within the Central time zone. Office hours fluctuate from season to season.
- We've been told the park is more like a B&B. We don't deliver breakfast to you, but we offer some personalized care. We have limited staff so you're cared for by a select few (and sometimes just one).
- We don't use uniforms because we aren't necessarily welcoming you to the business ... we're truly welcoming you to our home ... you are 'home' for the night. It's in this regard that guests have often referred to us as the B&B of RV parks.
- On the other side of the same coin is the fact that with so few to handle so much, there may be times you find a door sign telling you how to self-register and how to select a spot that fits your needs. Although we keep this situation to a minimum, life does happen and there are times we can't be in the office (appointments, trade shows to help us improve our park, time to sleep, etc.). In times such as these we guide you with signs.
- Within walking distance of our High Plains Camping is A Moment In Time Antiques.
- The Colonial Steakhouse offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, not to mention catering for groups using the park's Sunflower Barn for their social events.
- Interests around here are vast. Genealogy research is a common hobby for our guests. Hunting is also an option. Check out the online hunting information from the State of Kansas.
- In 2008 the Oakley area gained an ATV track, Oakley Motor Sports, which is open to the public. Presently too little information is available but please check back and we'll update the page as we learn more details.
